     CASE HISTORIES

Allergy - A man (mid 40s) suffered from sneezing fits on a irregular but frequent basis, and was unable to identify the culprit.  He felt his allergic reaction was more of a nuisance than a hindrance.  A flower essence combination was prescribed.  He was impressed with the speed of the desired results (no more "sneezing marathons"). Therapy: Essences

Anxiety- a woman in her 20's often experienced anxiety attacks, and feeling overwhelmed in social situations.  A programme combining reflexology and remedies was undertaken. After only a few treatments, she felt able to deal and control these extreme emotions and enjoy life. She continues with this therapy as a healthy mind, body "MOT" when time permits. Therapy: Reflexology and Essences

Back injury (football injury) - a young man had suffered a spasm during training. He'd already been to see his physiotherapist, there was no tissue damage, the pain had eased slightly, but, he felt very tight and his range of motion was still limited.  He undertook two sessions of oriental pain relief in quick succession, and was impressed with the speed of recovery (range of movement, no stiffness).   Therapy: Vinamassage

Blurred Vision - A man (50's) suffered from blurred vision and headaches. His job entailed a substantial amount of time driving; hence his vision was vital to his livelihood. He had visited an optician, and a change in spectacles were discussed and thought to be a necessity.  At the same time, he came for treatment in oriental face therapy (Vinamassage), after just the first session -although he found the treatment very sensitive his vision cleared. He reported back that this was not just a one-off reaction and he didn't have to proceed with the purchase of new specs after all. Therapy: Vinamassage
Depression - A youth came for treatment after encouraged by his parents to try an alternative to counselling and conventional medicine, they were concerned at the long term effects of this medication.  Whilst he seemed reluctant at first, a demonstration of the treatment was carried out, he decided to proceed with facial reflexology as he was uncomfortable with the thought of his feet being treated.  After a series of treatments he began to look forward to things  which had previously been major stumbling blocks for him, and would have resulted in black periods.  Therapy: Facial Reflexology

Hamstring & calf sports injury - a man (30's) came for treatment following an injury after a gym session.  Two treatments of oriental pain relief therapy, followed by facial reflexology treatments were undertaken.  The oriental therapy addressed the symptom, followed by facial reflexology to address the "core" meridian imbalance. Within weeks he was back to lifting weights and cardio-vascular activities at the same level as he was pre-injury, without suffering any long term detrimental effects on his fitness. Therapy: Vinamassage and Facial Reflexology

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) - A woman in her 30's came for Reflexology, as she had suffered from this condition for many years. She found the treatment to be very sensitive at first, however, after undertaking a treatment plan and supplementing this with essences with some lifestyle and dietary changes, the sensitivity felt during treatments soon dispersed (an example of how the body re-balances and aids itself in the healing process).  She later reported that the IBS symptoms were now minor if they occurred at all.  Therapy: Reflexology and Essences

Lack of sexual drive/ "Non- existent" libido - Due to the pressures of managing a hectic schedule trying to balance work and home life, a woman came for treatment, as she experienced problems in her relationship, one aspect being in her own words a "non-existent libido".  Initially she put it down to tiredness and stress.   As treatments commenced, by undertaking holistic approach to her feelings and issues; treating all factors she was pleased with the progress made in just a few short sessions. Therapy: Facial Reflexology and Essences

Lumbar pain - A man in his 40's, had a displaced lumbar vertebrae, causing sharp pain across the lower back and legs.  Having undertaken many months of therapy with an osteopath, he decided to try Oriental Face Therapy (Vinamassage), after the first session, he reported a vast improvement, the pain had almost completely dispersed and movement was much easier.  Further monthly sessions were undertaken, as a means to maintaining a healthy back. However, he was delighted to report that the level of discomfort he now experienced (since that first session) was never as intense nor sharp as before he tried this therapy. Therapy: Vinamassage

Migraine- A woman (20's) suffered from severe frequently occurring migraines (almost every other day).  She was prescribed strong migraine medication and was concerned about the effects of this.  A mixed programme of regular Facial Reflexology and essences followed, (as well as minor changes in lifestyle and diet). After just two months the frequency of migraines reduced dramatically, and had practically ceased.  (She was also shown some self-help techniques, to use as and when required).  Since then, she has had the occasional headaches (not migraine), the self help points deal with those effectively.  She continues to receive Facial Reflexology less frequently, purely as a means to maintaining good health. Therapy: Facial Reflexology and Essences

Neck and Shoulder pain - A woman (80's) suffered from chronic neck and shoulder pain, as a result of poor posture and bad habits accumulated over the years. A short programme of regular Oriental pain relief was undertaken. The movement improved by a huge degree and the pain which previously had been keeping her awake and had been extremely uncomfortable, had decreased sufficiently for her.  In this case the pain had reduced significantly and the woman decided it was at a level she was happy with.  As in all cases the decision to cease treatments is yours, when you feel you have got what you want from the therapy, it is possible that further treatments would have resulted in complete cessation of the pain.  Therapy Vinamassage

Nervousness:  A middle-aged man had failed his driving test on several occasions due to being very nervous. He became self-critical, and very angry at himself (his instructor has said that when not sitting a driving test he was a competent driver!).  However, he took a positive step and came in for treatment. After a few sessions (combined therapy) and some self help techniques he learnt to control his nerves and succeeded at his next test. It is not uncommon, your nerves can "take over" key events in your life (Driving tests/exams etc) we can help you. Therapy: Reflexology and Essences

Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS) - a woman in her 30's experienced mood swings, painful breasts and severe period pain for many years. She came to receive foot reflexology initially for stress management. As is fairly common many people tend to simply 'live with' a condition they have had for many years believing that to be "the norm" for them.  During the initial consultation some details emerged about the most stressful time for her, corresponding to her menstral cycle.  After regular treatments, mixed with flower essence remedies, the tenderness and her mood swings became an "old memory" and her painful periods have not been experienced for many months now; as for the stress build up it is now managed and kept under control. Sometimes we need to be reminded that complementary therapies take a holistic approach, where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts; we do not pigeon hole specific issues whilst ignoring others. Therapy: Reflexology

Psoriasis- a woman in her 30's has had scalp psoriasis since her teenage years.  When under stress the condition flares up with excessive flaking, causing discomfort and social embarrassment; causing further stress.  She was caught in this stress-psoriasis-stress circle and couldn't see a way out.  A mixed programme of Reflexology was undertaken.  After a number of regular treatments the scalp has returned to a healthy condition; something she hadn't seen for almost 20 years!  She continues to receive Facial Reflexology far less frequently, simply as a "healthy treat."  Therapy: Facial Reflexology

Self-esteem & lack of confidence- A young woman (20's) suffered in the workplace and in her social life. Sadly, this is all too common with many young people, feeling isolated, lonely or not good enough to deserve better.  A treatment plan, combining three therapies was undertaken, some in quick succession, in order to cement the desired changes from earlier sessions.  The results were long lasting.  Now, the young woman continues to receive treatments every 4-6 weeks, just as a "top-up". Therapy: Initially Vinamassage then: Facial Reflexology and Essences

Sinusitis - a regular sufferer (30's) decided to come for treatment to address a long standing problem.  After a programme of treatment and aftercare advice (self help techniques to work on between appointments), he reported that whilst his condition was not a major one it had infringed on his ability to play sport, and had assumed that that was what his life was destined for.  He was pleased to learn that there was a way to overcome this and he did not have to live with this for the rest of his life as he'd assumed.  Therapy: Reflexology

Stress - A man (40's) in a senior executive position, suffered from repeated minor health issues and "silly complaints" probably due to the stressful life he led. His wife decided to book him in for treatment.  Although initially sceptical, he quickly became a firm convert and an avid follower as Facial Reflexology has helped him achieve a healthier lifestyle: coping with stress and managing it; keeping the regular colds and minor ailments at bay, he has said that his immune system got the much needed boost it was crying out for. After each session he feels totally energised and "ready to do battle once more." Therapy: Facial Reflexology
